For convenience, we decided to stay a month in Big Bear Lake, CA. Since then, we've decided that a month in one place is way too long. When we stayed a month in Mission Bay, San Diego, CA we thought we were just sick of being in the same area we had lived in for so long. Well, it turns out that two weeks is our maximum. Don't get me wrong, Big Bear Lake has been nice. It's one of the coolest places in southern California to be at this time of year but we are excited to hit the road this week.
We were planning on leaving here on Thursday to drive up to the Thousand Oaks/Moorpark area (north of LA to see my sister and cousin and their families) but, I got free tickets to see Kenny Chesney perform on the Jimmy Kimmel outdoor stage in Hollywood on Wednesday. Those of you that know me, know I have a fondness for Kenny (to put it very mildly). I have flown to other states, including all the way to Florida, just to see him. So, now the plan is, I will go up a day early in the commuter truck and Paul and Fiona will meet me up there with the truck and camper the next day. We plan on spending just one day there, and then making our way slowly up the coast to Oregon to see one of my best friends, Wanda.
Paul took a month off from work, so we will have plenty of time to get there, stay about five days, then make our way slowly back going through the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
The Oregon trip will be a nice change of pace. Then, it's back to southern CA, while we await Paul's retirement date.
